As the founder and CEO of Edge Innovations, Walt Conti has inspired and led his talented, multidisciplinary team in the creation of some of the world’s most innovative technical and artistic creations.
Starting with his groundbreaking work on Star Trek IV, for which he created the world’s first realistic, free-swimming robotic whales, Walt’s creations have been instrumental in the success of such films as Free Willy, Anaconda, and Deep Blue Sea.
Under his leadership, Edge has designed and built dozens of highly integrated robotic systems. His team of engineers, artists, and fabricators have worked together seamlessly, often under extreme time pressure, to make these projects a success.
An Academy Award nominee for his work in The Perfect Storm, Walt has collaborated with some of the world’s top creative visionaries, including Jim Cameron, Steve Wynn, and Frank Gehry. He has been featured numerous times in both print and television media, including NBC Dateline, Time magazine, Fortune, Der Spiegel, and Wired magazine.
Prior to founding Edge, Walt worked in product development and was involved in the design of numerous consumer and medical equipment related products. Walt graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University, receiving a BS and MS in Engineering with emphasis on Design.
